Imports remain at low levels

In July 2016, 7 047 tonnes of dairy products were imported, 14% less than in July 2015. In the first seven months of this year, 30 361 tonnes of dairy product were imported, 45% less than during the same period last year. UHT imports increased in June and July 2016. However, total liquid milk imports for the first seven months of 4 million litres is still significantly lower than the 24 million litres imported during the same period last year.

Exports were slightly lower than during the same period last year, indicating the tighter local supply situation. During the first seven months 101 000 tonnes of dairy products were exported compared to 106 000 tonnes between January and July 2015. Total imports and exports per tariff category for 2014 – 2016 are shown in Table 1.
