Invest in yourself

“Investing in yourself is the best thing you can do. Anything that improves your own talents; nobody can tax it or take it away from you. They can run up huge deficits and the dollar can become worth far less. You can have all kinds of things happen. But you’ve got talent yourself, and you’ve maximised your talent, you’ve got a tremendous asset that can return ten-fold.”  – Warren Buffet

This quote embodies the message to dairy farmers at the Eastern Cape MPO Milk Day held at Slipperfields, Port Elizabeth on Tuesday, 31 May 2016. More than 60 farmers from various regions in the province attended the event, which also celebrated milk.  MPO CEO emphasised the strategic importance of having the right people in the right place at the right time in your dairy farming business. Murray Versfeld from Waikato gave advice on the benefits of effective management systems while accountant Melanie Sutton shared vital tips and tricks on how to use Excel. Dr Michael Mol, well-known motivational speaker, encouraged dairy farmers to focus on building their strengths in his presentation, which he called Get a life!. Chairman Lourens Gildenhuys thanked all the dairy farmers, speakers, sponsors and organisers who contributed to the success of the day.
