The MPO keeps milk producers abreast of the latest research, new technology, local and international trends, news and events, which may have an influence on their farming enterprises. This is done by way of:

- Television appearances.
- A weekly electronic newsletter.
- Press releases.
- Farmers’ days and meetings.
The MPO communicates with buyers, input suppliers, national and international trade organisations, and regional, provincial and local government on behalf of milk producers.
