The MPO has launched certain actions in order to address serious gaps in the dairy industry with regard to capacity-building among commercial and developing milk producers, as well as training and sound farming advice in general:

• Dairy information days for commercial milk producers countrywide.
• Almost 20 mentorship programmes countrywide.
• Training and technology transfer for farm managers emerging farmers and farm workers countrywide.
• Countrywide training of agricultural enterprises’ and cooperatives’ sales staff in animal health products.
• The biennial SA Large Herds Conference.
• The biennial All Africa Dairy School & Expo.
• Advice pertaining to AgriBEE.
• Advice and assistance to developing and aspiring milk producers.
• The IDF World Dairy Summit in Cape Town in 2012.
