PROGRESS FORWARD

In the process of restructuring at the MPO, the organisation was forced to reduce its staff by almost 60%. Saying goodbye always brings sadness, but the organisation decided that it was important for them to give recognition to the people who had been pillars of support within the MPO for many years.

“We are grateful for what you have meant to the MPO and its members over the years, your contributions have been invaluable.” Fanie Ferreira, acting CEO of the MPO, greeted the group of staff members.

Colin Wellbeloved, chairperson of the MPO board of directors, confirmed this and thanked the people on behalf of the farmers. He expressed his hope that they would each prosper in whatever they may undertake in the future. A small gift as a token of the organisation’s appreciation was handed over to each person personally.

“The aim of the restructuring is to create a more streamlined, flexible organisation that is focused on the industry’s core functions for its members. The MPO will continue to provide valuable market information that provides members with a solid platform from which to buy and sell. Our vision is to develop the business in a disciplined manner and, thus, expand the market, ”says Wellbeloved.

Despite the sadness, former colleagues socialised, shared memories, and discussed future plans.
